Construction sector: Are you meeting your tax obligations?

Inland Revenue is currently targeting specific industries in the search for undeclared revenue or overclaimed expenditure. Next on their hit list is the construction industry.
Of particular interest will be "cashies" undertaken by some in the trade. Other areas likely to be investigated are motor vehicle expenses, home office claims, entertainment and a review of gross margins (income less purchases).
We have extensive construction industry knowledge across all trades, ensuring that all our clients maximise their deductions while ensuring they don't attract the erie of the IRD.
However, given this Inland Revenue campaign, we have a couple of recommendations:
- Ensure your record-keeping is up to date, recording every job and associated materials; and
- Ensure you advise us of any cash jobs undertaken, come the end of the financial year.
If you have any questions, concerns or need to adjust the previous year returns, please get in touch with us. We’re here to help!
